The Society for the Exploration of Psychotherapy Integration (SEPI) is an international, interdisciplinary organization whose aim is to promote the exploration and development of approaches to psychotherapy that integrate across theoretical orientations, clinical practices, and diverse methods of inquiry.
Since effective psychotherapy must be rooted in both clinical observation and empirical verification, SEPI seeks to bring clinicians and researchers together in unprecedented degrees of active collaboration, so as to enable clinicians to learn and utilize the findings of cutting edge research, and for researchers to learn from the observations of clinicians working with the issues that arise in the actual practice of psychotherapy.
In promoting dialogue between therapists of differing theoretical orientations and between clinicians and researchers, SEPI aims to advance our understanding of the sources of effective therapeutic change and to meet the needs of the growing ranks of integrative therapists.
SEPI is, also, mindful of culture as a fundamental context and understands that cultural variation, including views of psychotherapy and the degree of its acceptance and development, are multi-determined.
SEPI welcomes into the dialogue of psychotherapy integration the participation of members of all cultural identities whether defined by regions, countries, religions, gender or other factors.
